Since its inception 20 years ago in 2002, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) Vietnam has been teaching and training medical students into expert medical professionals as well as undertaking research studies to contribute to the healthcare system. With a vision to be a University of Applied Health Sciences by the year 2025, CTUMP has been consistently upgraded in terms of infrastructure, manpower as well as administration. A few new organisations were formed and administration was thereby extended to help CTUMP reach its goal.
Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy is the first government medical college of Vietnam that offers MBBS admissions to Indian students and is also among the Top 5 medical Universities of Vietnam. Through continuous hard work and upliftment, CTUMP has grown from a 200 + staff and training establishment for nearly 3000 students in 2003 to 446 faculty lecturers and 657 staff members in the University Hospital to teach and train about 8000 undergraduate and 1000 post graduate students. It currently has 8 full-time programs based on the credits system, 2 programs for working people, 14 programs for Masters and PhDs, 45 programs for specialists level I and II, and resident doctors. The University renews the curriculum and examination methods with time to ensure quality education and thus, raising and maintaining the credibility of the institution.

CTUMP is situated at 179 Nguyen Van Cu Street, An Khanh, Ninh Kieu, Can Tho, with a total area of 40 hectares.
It consists of-
- 7 buildings of different faculties such as Nursing, Basic Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Odonto-Stomatology, Public health and Medical Technique.
- 44 lecture rooms, 2 lecture halls, 7 E-learning classrooms, practice rooms, laboratories for students, other offices

- Vietnamese and English are widely spoken.
- Although there is no official dress code in Vietnam, most people are free to dress however they like. Nevertheless, it’s a good idea to dress appropriately when on a university campus. In most situations, long pants or jeans and a collared shirt with short or long sleeves are considered normal attire.
- Separate, air-conditioned accommodation for boys and girls with Indian food is made available by CTUMP.
- Students activities: Every year, the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) students conduct a wide range of events. We think it’s crucial to sustain a vibrant, engaging student life by creating and taking part in a variety of events. Our university hosts a variety of traditional festivals each year for our students, in addition to physical, musical, and cerebral competitions. These events are all organised and hosted by CTUMP students. Our students gain valuable social skills and have a break from the pressure of their studies during this process.
